With several blockbuster movies already released in the first half of the year, there’s a lot more in Pandora’s box to unravel. As the second half of the year approaches, let’s take a look at five upcoming movies that are a must-watch for cinema-goers.
Jurassic World Dominion
The all-time classic Jurassic World trilogy is returning with the last part of its trilogy ‘Jurassic World Dominion’. The sequel to the 2018 film ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ is the final part of the trilogy and the sixth of the Jurassic series. The upcoming movie will serve as an epic conclusion to the Jurassic saga that began in 1993. The third part features an ensemble cast from its previous parts including Chris Pratt, Daniella Pineda, and Bryce Dallas Howard, among others. Interestingly, Sam Neill and Laura Dern, who played Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler respectively, in the 1993 film, will also be part of the film. The film will hit the theatres on June 10.

Actor Chris Hemsworth aka Thor will be on a quest for inner peace while planning his retirement from fighting. However, Thor’s pursuit gets interrupted because of an intergalactic combat featuring Gorr — God’s butcher, played by Christian Bale. Interestingly, Natalie Portman aka Jane Foster will play the role of ‘Goddess of Thunder’, as she is seen wielding the Mjolnir in a fight scene. Not to forget the Guardians of the Galaxy, the team along with the King of Asgard, Valkyrie, will also be a part of the film. Mark your calendars as the movie releases on July 8.
The long-expected film that features Dwayne Johnson in the lead will release on October 21. The 11th film in the DC Extended Universe is a spin off from Shazam! that was released in 2019. Directed by Jaume Collet Serra, the movie stars Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher aka Albert Rothstein, Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Sarah Shahi as Goddess Isis.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
Marvel fans have something or the other to look forward to every month. Before the year comes to an end, Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is set to release another masterpiece ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’. The movie’s production was put to a halt considering the sudden demise of Chadwick Boseman — who had played the role of Black Panther in the previous Marvel hits. Marvel Studios has decided not to recast King T’Challa, following the untimely demise of Boseman in 2020. The upcoming film will instead focus on other characters such as Shuri played by Letitia Wright, Okoye by Danai Gurira, and M’Baku by Winston Duke, among others. The film premiers on November 11.
Avatar: The Way of Water
The blue creatures are all set to visit us after 13 long years. The second part or sequel of the highest-grossing movie ‘Avatar’ is headed our way and will release on December 16. Starring Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana, among others. The two actors will be reprising their roles as Jake Sully and Neytiri. The plot revolves around the couple as they raise their family. Jake is compelled to fight against his kind — the humans and explore the oceans of Pandora — in a bid to protect his family. Post this sequel, there will be three more installments that are scheduled within the next six years.
