From larger than life Bollywood entertainment to realistic and enriched visually effective Hollywood films, we want it all. Don’t we? Here’s a list of 10 movies that will be released in the first quarter, and even before their due dates, they created quite a buzz among the audiences. Birds of Prey

Ever wondered what’s more to Harley Quinn than just being Joker’s love interest and women’s favourite Halloween costume idea? If you are looking for answers, then this one is a must-watch as it revolves around Quinn’s journey. Featuring Margot Robbie, Birds of Prey is a follow-up to DC Extended Universe’s 2016 hit, Suicide Squad. The release date is February 7.

Love Aaj Kal 2

Releasing on Valentine’s Day this year, this romantic drama is a sequel to director Imtiaz Ali’s former version with actors Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone. Everyone relished the refreshing flavour in the first part and the upcoming part, featuring Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan, promises to be a build-up on the same. The soundtrack of the film has received immense popularity already.

Shubh Mangal Savdhan

A spin-off to the critically and publicly acclaimed Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, the film is slated to release on February 21. This time, instead of erectile dysfunction, the movie revolves around homosexuality and its perception in Indian society. Actor Ayushmann Khurrana’s quirky roles are no more alien to the masses as exploring tabooed subjects has become his forte.


Domestic violence still strangles women in our society and this film by Anubhav Sinha highlights the protagonist’s determination to not surrender to such evil practices. Starring Taapsee Pannu, who was critically acclaimed for her role in Pink, the realistic drama advocates women’s rights and how our society should treat women as equals. February 28 is when the movie will be released.


The first trailer of the Vin Diesel-starrer action film came out in October 2019 and the public immediately expressed its love and anticipation for the film. A classic internal conflict between a superhuman enhanced with nanotechnology and his innate humanistic nature; the movie promises to be a worldwide success. Bloodshot will be released on March 13.

The New Mutants

The final instalment of the X-Men film series, The New Mutants falls under both the horror and superhero genre. Noticeably, the movie is about a group of young mutants who will be seen fighting to save themselves. Actor Maisie Williams, who played the character of Arya Stark in the TV series Game of Thrones, will be a part of the film. It will release on April 3.


The iconic image of former India captain Kapil Dev lifting India’s first cricket World Cup in 1983 is instilled in the hearts of every Indian. Imagine what a movie on the same will do. Actor Ranveer Singh will play on-screen Kapil Dev in the movie along with known faces from the industry. One of the biggest releases of the year, it is advised to book your tickets in advance for April 10.

Gulabo Sitabo

Veteran Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan will be seen in an intriguing avatar in this film directed by Shoojit Sircar. Based on the lives of local entertainers from Uttar Pradesh, this comedy-drama also features Ayushmann Khurrana. With Sircar’s vision and a strong cast, Gulabo Sitabo makes it to the must-watch list and is scheduled to release on April 17.


“Pray It desires not you”, the slogan from the teaser of the film is bound to give jitters if you like watching horror movies. This supernatural drama is based on Nick Antosca’s famous short story, The Quiet Boy. The book revolved around a dangerous secret harboured by the young boy and how it fatally affected the others involved. April 17 is when the horror begins.

Black Widow

Marvel is back! And this time, with none other than everyone’s beloved, Natasha aka Black Widow. Much awaited like any other Marvel release, Black Widow was conceived in 2004 and Scarlett Johansson was cast for the role but the project could not be accomplished. However, the release of the film has been announced for May 1 and we cannot wait any longer.
